JEWELLERY CARE

It is advisable that your jewellery is always the last thing you put on when getting ready.
Make sure you take your jewellery off before showering, and always apply perfume, moisturiser and make up before putting your jewellery back on.
You should also avoid wearing your items in the swimming pool, and when using harsh cleaning chemicals and products.

Tip: You can clean your silver jewellery at home using a bowl of warm, soapy water, and a soft bristle brush, and gently scrub the item.

- You can also purchase a soft silver polishing cloth from most high street jewellers to keep your silver jewellery looking lustrous and shiny.

Storing Your Jewellery

When not being worn, your jewellery should be placed in a fabric pouch or within a soft lined box to stop them being damaged or tangled.
It is also recommended that you store your jewellery in a dark, cool and dry place to reduce the risk of tarnishing.

925 Sterling Silver

All of the Fou Jewellery items are made from solid 925 Sterling Silver. Silver naturally tarnishes over time when exposed to the elements, however this is less likely to happen if the item is worn regularly, and stored away correctly when not being worn.

18ct Yellow Gold Plating

Gold plating can be affected by various elements. It is recommended that you remove gold plated jewellery when being exposed to any type of substance or chemical, such as: perfume, hairspray, lotions, cleaning products, etc.
You should never wear your gold plated jewellery in the shower or when swimming, as chlorine, especially at high temperatures, can permanently damage or discolour your gold plated jewellery.

Black Rhodium Plating

Over time, black rhodium plating can gradually tarnish and wear away, especially on items such as rings which may come into contact with other materials and hard surfaces.
Rhodium plating can also discolour and wear away when in contact with the natural oils on your skin and as well as with excessive wear.

Please note: Black rhodium jewellery items are best worn as 'special occasion' jewellery rather than everyday pieces.

Fou Jewellery Re-Plating

Any of the plated items purchased through the Fou Jewellery store can be re-plated without charge within 6 months of purchase.

For items purchased longer than 6 months ago, there is an additional charge for this service. This plating service can be purchased through the 'Jewellery Services' page, which you will find on the drop down menu, under the heading 'Contact'.
